Birds Nest Builders is a family owned construction company based out of Acton, ME. Founded by design/builder Scott Guzman and his Mother Birdie Guzman - the Namesake of Birds Nest.
Together with an expansive crew of talented carpenters and experienced builders, Birds nest is able to take on a wide variety of big projects and complete them with a high level of care and attention.
Birdie
Birdie is our crew mom and also does all the sewing required in the yurt building process. She has become a master seamstress in her 20+ year career and brings a great deal of skill and experience to the team. There’s no challenge she can’t tackle. She’s doing so much to improve our sewing offerings and provide the highest level liners that money can buy.
Scotty
Scotty is a natural builder, compost educator and permaculture designer with a degree in chemical engineering from W.P.I. and 12 years of experience in the world of cooperative business. He is the founder of Diggers Cooperative, a local Maine compost and permaculture design business.
In collaboration with the permaculture education group, Permatours, and several other highly skilled educators, Scotty is helping build an online education platform to share educational content on various topics such as building science 101 and Hempcrete. With a current focus on yurt construction, Scotty is bringing his yurt energy to this design/build team by being a voice for simplicity, strength and function.
